Social Media for Golf Clubs

Yes, everyone, including golf clubs, can take advantage of social media.  I gave a presentation today up at the Andover Country Club for the New England Golf Summit to a few hundred professionals in the golf industry.  It was a lively audience, many of whom have a direct impact on their clubs’ ability to recruit new members, communicate with current members and, most importantly, promote the game of golf.

Unisfair acquired by Intercall: good or bad?

Unisfair, Cramer’s Virtual Event partner for the past two years, announced today that it has been acquired by InterCall, a subsidiary of West Corporation.  So, is this a good thing?  Well, time will tell, but we see it as a positive step not only for Unisfair, but for the industry as a whole.  I take it as a sign of confidence when large industry players get in on a new market and I’m glad that InterCall saw the same value in the Unisfair platform, business model and executive team that we did back in 2009.  Nice going, guys.

Forget femtocells: Alcatel’s lightRadio will change mobile coverage for event venues forever

I was paging through BusinessWeek yesterday and came across a short article about work that Alcatel-Lucent is doing on… of all things… cell phone towers.  This is one area of “mobile” where nobody has really been talking about significant innovation.  It seems like the last major innovation was disguising cell towers as trees (yea, that’s really fooling everyone).
