First dates are exciting, but they also can cause a lot of anxiety. After all, you want to give the right first impression, so you can have a second date, a third or more. But how do you ensure you make a good impression when you don’t know the other person very well?

The whole idea can seem a little daunting–especially to those less experienced.

Email campaigns are a lot like first dates–especially if you haven’t established a relationship with your customers yet. You want to make sure to do everything just right, so you get that second date.

Have you seen the one with the talking fish?

Have you seen the one with the talking fish? Chances are, you have; and chances are, you can’t get the song out of your head. What’s worse, you probably sing the song constantly.

Word of mouth marketing has evolved past oral communication to also include phone, text, email, blog and social media. It is successful because it employs buzz, grassroots, and viral elements which get people talking about your product for you. And when you embrace your fans, converse with them, and allow them to mash up your content, you open the door to even more exposure. Here are some great examples:

Have you seen this one on TV?

“Give me back that filet o fish,
Give me that fish.
