So would I, Scott - but this I would gladly use as a substitute for some events. That way, rather than only experience the few events I have time and budget to travel to, I can also "visit" a few others.

Wow. I have "explored" Second Life, and frankly, I don't get it. I applaud the imagination that created this virtual environment, but I'd rather go to an event in a real city and interact with real people.

Holidex?

My division (UMass Boston CCDE) bought an island, and we're planning on hosting guest lecturer events, a credit course in language immersion (where only language X can be used on the island) and several other cool ideas are being developed. We've only scratched the surface of SL.

I love Second Life. The potential is mind-boggling. I see this as the intermediate step to the total immersion Holidex on Star Trek. We are educating our faculty so they can use this as a learning tool, and actually teach classes in SL. My SL name is Patti Voom.
